Cybersecutity and cybercrime a view of Brazil
The increasing digitalization of the economy and social relations has significantly expanded exposure to cyber risks and the sophistication of threats in the digital environment. In this context, understanding the regulatory and institutional framework related to cybersecurity and cybercrime has become essential for companies, authorities, and professionals operating in Brazil.
This second edition presents an updated and structured overview of the Brazilian landscape, incorporating recent developments at both national and international levels, such as the Global Risks Report 2026 from the World Economic Forum, the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, the new National Cybersecurity Strategy, Resolution No. 5,274/2025 applicable to the financial sector, and the use of artificial intelligence in criminal investigations.
The material examines the main general regulations, such as the Brazilian General Data Protection Law, the Civil Rights Framework for the Internet, and the Consumer Protection Code, as well as sectoral regulations and guidelines applicable to essential services and critical infrastructures. It also addresses the classification of cybercrimes, the use of technology in investigations, institutional action in incident management, and relevant court decisions.
